A local community gets a field of dreams.
The new Motor Mile Sports Complex was dedicated this morning in Montgomery County.
There’s still some work to do like adding bathrooms and bleachers, but shortly after the dedication the field was put to good use as dozens of kids started a baseball clinic.
The new complex has state of the art lights, fencing and a brand new field to match. Recreation Director Mitchell Haugh says it’s definitely a step up from where they used to throw around the ball. “The old one had many holes. It was over-grown with grass. It was a very worn out field.“
Thanks to Shelor Motor Mile area kids now have a new field to call home.
The company donated the land to the county and threw more than $300,000 into the project. “It was a joint venture with the county,“ says Shelor Motor Mile Co-Owner David Hagan. “Our business wouldn’t be here or survive without this community and it’s really good, we try lots of different ways to give back.“
