Painted rain barrels to help Blacksburg highlight green efforts

Going green with rain and paint. That’s the thought process behind a new environmental awareness project for the Town of Blacksburg.
The town will hold a painted rain barrel auction, to take place during the town’s sustainability week, October 20-25th.
Coca Cola Bottling Company of Roanoke donated 12 barrels which will be painted by professional artists, and school children. The barrels will then be put up for a silent auction, that ends on October 25th.
You can see the barrels during sustainability week, at the Blacksburg Municipal Building lobby on 300 South Main Street. If you want to bid on a barrel, you can lace a bid at the cashier’s window on the second floor.
