– U.S. Representative Rick Boucher announced today that, at his urging, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its Rural Development agency, is providing a federal grant in the amount of $18,150 to the Town of Pulaski to assist with the purchase of a new command vehicle for the Town’s Fire Chief.
“This provision of federal funding will enable the purchase of a new command vehicle for the Town of Pulaski’s Fire Chief, which will allow him to more rapidly reach the scene of emergencies to coordinate the Fire Department’s response,” Boucher said.
The federal funds announced today will assist in the purchase a new sports utility vehicle for use by the Town’s Fire Chief. The new vehicle will replace an older model currently in use by the Town which has become costly to maintain.
Congressman Boucher has been instrumental in securing previous allocations of federal funding for the Pulaski Fire Department. Last year, Boucher announced a federal grant of $156,750 to assist the Town in purchasing new self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) packs for the Department’s members.
The Town of Pulaski’s Fire Department provides fire protection to the Town and the surrounding areas of Pulaski County. The Fire Department has 30 members including 10 paid staff and 20 who serve on a voluntary basis.
“I am pleased that the Rural Development Agency has provided this funding to the Town of Pulaski for its Fire Department. It is important to ensure that our fire and rescue personnel have access to the best equipment and today’s announcement will help further this goal,“ Boucher concluded.
