Renovate or replace?

That’s the question that’s going to leaders of the town of Pulaski.

Its firehouse is getting old and Fire Chief Bill Webb is hoping to get a new building.

Webb says most of the problems are electrical and plumbing.

Over the past four years, he estimates about $20,000 has been spent on repairs.

Another problem is that the firehouse is also located next to the creek, which puts the fire station in a flood plain.  It’s also very close to the railroad tracks downtown.

“Our concern has always been that there would be a derailment that would cause an evacuation,” says Webb.  “We would be some of the first ones evacuated.”

The Pulaski town council will have its next meeting on May 6th.  Members are expected to talk about capital projects for the town, including the future of the firehouse.
