Montgomery County school bus driver charged in crash

8:00 p.m.

State Police charged a Montgomery County bus driver in connection with a school bus crash that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Sergeant Bob Carpentieri says bus driver Judy Meyer was driving about 55 students on Peppers Ferry Road (Rt. 114), when the traffic slowed, and Meyer rear ended a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Investigators tell us the crash happened around 3:51 p.m., near Peppers Ferry Road’s intersection with Vickers Switch Road.

EMS crews took the driver of the car, Angela Dean, to the New River Valley Medical Center, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say none of the students on the bus were hurt.

Troopers charged Meyer with following too closely.

the crash shut down all lanes of Peppers Ferry Road for about half an hour.

4:37 p.m.

VDOT says road is now clear, all lanes back open.

4:18 p.m.

VDOT says all lanes of Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Rd) in Montgomery Co. are blocked near its intersection with Vickers Switch Road due to an accident.
