One student killed, another seriously hurt after being hit by a car on Virginia Tech’s campus

One student is dead, and another is still in the hospital after a car hits a group of Virginia Tech Students on campus on Saturday night.

Police say the accident killed Christine McNabb.  She was 20 years old.

19 year old Daniel Budzenski is in serious condition, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital as of Monday morning.

Virginia Tech Police tell us five students were crossing Duckpond Drive in the crosswalk, when four were hit by a car.  EMS crews took two of the hit students to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.  The other two hit students were not seriously hurt, and were not taken to the hospital.

McNabb was from Manassas.  She was a sophomore in the College of Engineering.

Budzenski is from California, Maryland.  He is also a sophomore in the College of Engineering.

Police say 20 year old, Joshua Sales of Blacksburg, was driving the car.  He is charged with having an expired registration, and not having insurance.  More charges may be added. Sales is not a student at Virginia Tech.  Police say he did stop.  Investigators also say alcohol is not a factor in this accident.

The Blue Ridge Crash Investigation Team, was called to help the investigation.
