Blacksburg Police say a man driving a van hit another man on bike this afternoon (Tuesday, April 22nd).
Officers tell us the accident happened around 12:55 p.m. in the 900 block of Prices Fork Road.
Investigators say Robert Barnes was driving a van East on Prices Fork Road, and turning left into the Holiday Inn parking lot. At the same time, police say Timothy Jordan was riding his bicycle West on Prices Fork Road, in the bicycle lane.
Officers believe Barnes did not judge the proper distance between his van and Jordan. So when Barnes turned to drive into the hotel’s parking lot, police say Barnes drove into the path of Jordan’s bicycle.
Jordan’s bike hit the van, and he was hurt. EMS crews took Jordan to Montgomery Regional Hospital, and is in stable condition.
Officers charged Barnes with failing to yield the right of way.
