Track layoffs and closures reported under the Virginia WARN Act since July 1, 2007. Search by company name, location, minimum number of employees affected or the dates on which employees were given notice.

Jobs are getting cut left and right and the Virginia Employment Commission also knows as the VEC is getting slammed with people needing help.

Today, the VEC office in Radford was filled with frustrated and unemployed people including Kim Fisher.

She says after experiencing problems online and with the automated system, she decided to come in person to find out why she hasn’t received her unemployment check.

She just got laid off from Federal Mogul in Blacksburg. “I’ve talked to some friends that work there with me and they haven’t gotten nothing either and they were experiencing the same problems too,“ said Fisher.

The Radford VEC supervisor tells us it will be hiring additional employees to meet the increased demand for its services.
