Virginia Tech’s explosive sniffing dog gets some more training to make sure he’s ready to spring into action whenever duty calls.

You may remember, Boomer sniffed out the nail gun cartridge after the gun fire scare on campus last week.

Today, his handler Larry Wooddell planted black powder for Boomer to find, which he did in less than two minutes.

“He doesn’t get bones. He doesn’t get anything like that. He gets his reward which is a play tool and that’s his towel rolled up and that’s what he’s rewarded with.“

Boomer goes through training four hours a week and three days every month.
