New information about the deadly crash that killed a Virginia Tech student, and put another student in the hospital over the weekend.
Tech Police tell us they are looking for the driver of a car that drove out of the student parking lot (the Cage) just before the accident on Saturday.
Officers say five students were crossing Duckpond Drive in the crosswalk, when four were hit by a car.
The crash killed 20-year-old Christine McNabb. 19 year old Daniel Budzenski is in serious condition, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The two other students are not seriously hurt.
McNabb was from Manassas. She was a sophomore in the College of Engineering.
Budzenski is from California, Maryland. He is also a sophomore in the College of Engineering.
Police say 20 year old, Joshua Sales of Blacksburg, was driving the car that hit the four Tech students. He is charged with having an expired registration, and not having insurance. More charges may be added. Sales is not a student at Virginia Tech. Police say he did stop. Investigators also say alcohol is not a factor in this accident.
The Blue Ridge Crash Investigation Team was called to help the investigation.
Officers do not know if the second car played a factor in the crash. The only description police gave out is a dark, 4-door sedan. Investigators want to speak with the driver of that car.
If you have any information, call the Virginia Tech Police Department at (540) 231-6411.
