You don’t need us to tell you that gas prices are putting a pinch on budgets across the country. That’s just one reason why a group at Virginia Tech is pushing alternate ways to commute.
Wednesday, Transportation and Campus Services set up a booth on campus to give information about its programs which range from carpooling to riding a bike to walking.
It was all part of the department’s “Active Commute Celebration.“
“People just can’t afford to pay for that kind of gas everyday,“ says Hilary West with Transportation and Campus Services. “They’re looking for those alternative commuting methods.“
To promote bicycles as an alternative form of transportation the Virginia Tech Police Department was also on hand registering bikes.
