The parking lots around the Inn at Virginia Tech were nearly empty of news satellite trucks Tuesday afternoon.

Every national news organization had sets outside of the inn last week to broadcast the latest information on the Norris Hall massacre to the entire nation.

International media from countries such as Canada, Japan, and France were also on campus covering the story last week.

A number of students expressed relief the national media was gone Tuesday.

"For a while there I was kinda happy [the national media] was here because it meant the world was caring about Virginia Tech," said Tech senior Graham Phero.  "But to a certain point they were just getting in the way."

At least one sign was posted near the Drillfield last week, reading "The Hokie Nation needs to heal.  Media Stay Away!"

The Montgomery Regional Hospital reported some cases of national media calling the rooms of the survivors at the hospital claiming to be friends of the family.
