WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI says there have been 35-to-40 mostly school-based threats since the Virginia Tech tragedy.
Experts suspect a copy-cat effect. Some of the threats, including one in Yuba City, California, have talked about shattering the Virginia Tech body count.
An FBI special agent says this sort of thing has to stop. He says such threats are serious business, and have to be investigated. And he adds that perpetrators could face serious prison time.
Experts say a shooting incident like Virginia Tech can have a contagion effect. It can push an already troubled person over the edge, helping to shape ideas and plans a suicidal child already has.
