New Danville church reaching out to the community
The leaders of a new church on Worsham Street are taking an active role in the community, and getting to know their new neighbors through free community days complete with food, a summer program for children and working with the police to help reduce crime.

The Reidsville Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint on South Scales Street near Lawndale Drive between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. The stop resulted in 46 charges.

With a traditional Swedish log cutting, Governor Kaine helped officially open the Swedwood manufacturing plant. More than 200 employees are making furniture pieces that are boxed and sold by IKEA stores.

2 arrested in violent purse snatching
Back on May 7th, officers say a woman was getting into her vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot around 10:00 p.m. The victim told police that someone grabbed her purse, and pulled her over a shopping cart, and on to the pavement.
