Pittsylvania County ABC store staying put
Pittsylvania County imbibers can breathe a sigh of relief. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to rescind a motion to ask the state to close the county’s only ABC store. The 7-0 decision reversed a 5-2 vote on April 7.
Percy Walton gets new execution date
Walton, convicted of killing three of his Danville neighbors in 1996, has been on death row since 1997. His execution is now scheduled for June 10, according to the Virginia Attorney General’s office.

Police say they caught copper thieves in the act
Investigators tell us a citizen reported suspicious activity on Railroad Street around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night. The street runs behind the Stone and Company Warehouse at 222 Aaron Street, where police say several burglaries have happened during the past couple of months.
Pit Bull puppy recovering after ears were cut off with box cutters
Investigators are still looking for the person or persons who cut off six-week-old Pit Bull’s ears with box cutters. We checked up on the dog Thursday. Her wounds are beginning to heal, but police still don’t know who’s responsible.
