A bizarre discussion helps a Danville Police officer arrested a man wanted in Atlanta.
Investigators tell us a man approached Danville Police Sergeant J.W. McLaughlin in the emergency room of Danville Regional Medical Center on Sunday morning. The man asked Sgt. McLaughlin if he wanted to do a good deed for today. Sgt. McLaughlin asked the man, “What was the deed?“ The man responded, “Just shoot me, right here and take me out of here.“
Sgt. McLaughlin then saw the man look at his gun, and took a step back.
Officers later arrested the man, found out his name is Steven Conrad Merritt, and that Merritt is wanted in Atlanta on a robbery charge.
Merritt is awaiting extradition back to Georgia.
