In addition to treating illnesses, Danville Regional Medical Center offers high-quality services for people not seeking treatment, according to a state medical agency.
The Medical Society of Virginia Intrastate Accreditation Committee yesterday gave re-accreditation status to the Continuing Medical Education Program at the hospital. The program scored 47 out of a possible 47 points on the on-site evaluation, and received the maximum number of commendations possible from MSV site visitors.
“We are extremely proud of this recognition,” said Dr. Michael Moore, director of medical education.
The accreditation process confirms that Danville Regional has all the essential elements of a CME. Some elements include utilization of needs assessment data, communication of objectives and activities to faculty and participants, objective measurement of the effectiveness of CME activitie4s, and a well organized program with the necessary medical information resources.
Of the 13 CME providers in the Commonwealth, Danville Regional is the only one that earned the maximal number of possible points during a re-accreditation site visit, according to a press release from the hospital. Re-accreditation extends through February 2012.
“This acknowledges the hard work and tremendous effort the CME Department has put into making this program a success,” said DRMC CEO Jerel Humphrey.
