Mark Randall Oakes, 47, of Danville was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday night, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.

At 8:34 p.m., Danville police and emergency crews responded to a wreck in the 3900 block of Westover Drive involving a motorcycle, the release stated.

Witnesses say they saw a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle traveling west on Westover Drive when the diver lost control, hit a curb and was thrown from the motorcycle, police say.

Oakes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
