A trade magazine names parts of Southside as one of its top 10 “comeback kids.”
According to a joint news release from the Danville and Pittsylvania County Economic Development offices, Southern Business & Development plans to includ the Danville-Pittsylvania County region in its Winter 2008 edition. Southern Business & Development is a a trade magazine focused on economic development in the Southern United States, according to the news release.
The magazine’s editor, Mike Randle, is quoted in the joint news release as saying, “the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County have stood out for meeting the challenges they faced with the decline of their major economic markets, and for working to create a successful rising economy for their citizens. Capping their success has been the location of the IKEA subsidiary, Swedwood’s $281 million facility in Cane Creek Centre, the county and city’s joint industrial park; and coming on the heels of that success was Danville’s announcement of Com.40, Ltd., a manufacturer of mattresses and furniture for IKEA.”
Both economic development offices say making the magazine’s list is,"one more piece of evidence that Southside’s growth is making people around the globe sit up and take notice.”
