Danville Police Investigate Murders

Danville Police are investigating two murders. They happened around 6:00pm Monday, on Jenny Lane.
Officers initially responded to reports of a vehicle crash. Once they arrived, they found a car had run off the road through a split-rail fence and gone down an embankment. Officers found two people inside the car, and both had been shot.
The driver, Tony Rodger Howerton, 55, of Danville was taken to the Danville Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The male passenger, Charles Edward Harris, was shot in the head. He was taken to DRMC, then transported to Duke University Medical Center, and later died.
Howerton’s body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke this morning for an autopsy.
