BOTETOURT CO. WSLS 10) - Parents voice their concerns about the treatment of special needs children in the school system.

"It's been traumatic and unbelievable," said Phil Mnich, parent.

Phil and Ellen Mnich say the county's special education program neglects students including their 16-year-old son.

"We received my son's bowel movements three times in an 11 day period," said Ellen. "Whole bowel movements in a Walmart bag next to his lunchbox and backpack."

"He's hid himself in a closet and doesn't want to go to school which was a pretty tough time," said Phil.

They went before the board in hopes of getting answers, however, board members did not respond to any comments.

The Supervisor of Health Services Julie Baker gave us a statement which states, "Our school division is committed to providing a safe and healthful environment for our students as well as our staff. We have been consistent with following our procedures in our Exposure Control Plan. As far as we are aware, issues related to this matter have been investigated, addressed, and resolved."

Meanwhile the Mnichs have filed a complaint with the state.
