Danville Police release sobriety checkpoint results

Danville Police call their sobriety checkpoint over the weekend a success.
The checkpoint happened on Saturday, May 25th, at South Boston Road’s intersection with Old Halifax Road. The DMV helped pay for the checkpoint. It ran from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight.
Officers checked about 750 vehicle during the night.
Police tell us they wrote multiple citations, including:
- DUI - 1
- No child safety seat - 11
- Suspended operator’s license - 10
- No operator’s license in possession - 9
- Expired state inspection sticker - 9
- No operator’s license - 8
- Expired Virginia registration
- Defective equipment - 3
- Identity fraud - 1
- Object suspended from mirror
- No motorcycle endorsement
