The Danville Police Department is searching for a suspect in an early morning carjacking and abduction of a Providence, N.C., woman.

Just before 7 a.m., the victim’s daughter told Danville police that her mother had been abducted from a parking lot in the 400 block of Piney Forest Road, and later released on Interstate 85 in Guilford County, N.C., according to a news release.

The victim, a resident of Providence, N.C., said she drove to her place of employment in Danville and parked her car at about 6 a.m., the release stated.  Police say she started to exit the vehicle when a man confronted her, and forced her into the passenger seat.

With the victim still in vehicle, the suspect drove the car into North Carolina and shortly before 7 a.m. released her along the shoulder of I-85, police say.

The suspect kept the victim’s vehicle and continued driving south on I-85.  The woman was not injured.  The victim then used her cell phone to call her daughter and, while on the phone, a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper spotted her walking along the road and stopped to check on her, according to the release.

Deputies with Guilford County Sheriff’s Office also responded. The woman returned to Danville and was interviewed by Danville police.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, six-foot-one, 150 to 175 pounds, with acne scars on his face.  He was wearing a light blue shirt, light pants and a burgundy colored baseball cap.
The victim’s vehicle is a red 1998 Ford Focus SE 4-door, North Carolina tag TNB2793.
