DWI checkpoint nets 46 charges

The Reidsville Police Department conducted a DWI checkpoint on South Scales Street near Lawndale Drive between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. The stop resulted in 46 charges.
According to a news release, the following charges were filed: five for driving while license revoked, nine for expired inspection, 12 for no operator’s license, two for insurance violations,seven for expired registration, one for open container in passenger area, three for driving without wearing a seatbelt, one for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive, two for driving while intoxicated (DWI), two for misdemeanor possession of narcotics and one for felony possession of narcotics.
The N.C. Highway Patrol, the Reidsville Fire Department, Stoneville police, Madison police, Mayodan police and Mothers Against Drunk Driving participated in the DWI checkpoint.
