Danville emergency workers evacuate people living and working along two streets due to flooding from the severe storms we got hit by Thursday night.

The Danville Emergency Operations Center tells us Fall Creek overflowed its banks along Water and Halifax Street.  At least 12 people had to be evacuated.

This is the second evacuation in the city in the past 24 hours.  The inferno at the Dan River Inc. Long Mill complex caused the first one Thursday afternoon.

The city has opened a shelter for people living on Farrar Street because of the Long Mill fire, as well as Water Street and Halifax Street for the flooding.  The Salvation Army is helping the people impacted.
