The National Weather Service now predicts the Dan River will crest this afternoon (Thursday) at one foot above flood stage, then start falling. This is an earlier crest and fall than previously predicted.

The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WARNING for the Dan River at South Boston.
The NWS expects the Dan River to go above flood stage by late this morning, crest Friday morning about three feet above flood stage, and drop back below flood stage Friday evening.
