Friday wreck kills Danville woman

Lojean Collins, 78, of Danville, was killed Friday afternoon after she ran a red light and drove into the path of another vehicle, according to Lt. Scott Eanes of the Danville Police Department.
Collins was driving a 1995 Buick north on Exchange Street when she went to make a left turn onto Riverside Drive at 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Riverside and Westover, Eanes said. When she ran the red light, she pulled into the path of a 1994 Jeep Cherokee driven by Tamika Hanks of Chatham and was struck, Eanes said.
Collins was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center, where she died from to her at 4:29 Friday. Hanks was not injured. No charges are pending at this time, Eanes said.
