CHATHAM — Authorities seized what they suspect is moonshine during a raid at a residence Sunday morning.

The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police, acting on a complaint from a resident, obtained a search warrant and confiscated about three gallons of what they believe is illegally possessed and sold liquor, Jesse Tate, special agent for the ABC’s enforcement division, said.

The seizure took place at about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Beechnut Road, Tate said.

Charges are pending upon results of lab analysis of the substance, which should take 60 to 90 days, Tate said.
