Stoneville Police Chief Mike James and narcotics officers with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office seized approximately 20 pounds of marijuana during a drug bust on Tuesday.
The officers executed a search warrant at 205 Kellam St., Stoneville, and found the marijuana, which had been compressed for transportation, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Jerald Christopher Champion, 28, of 125 Contesa Loop, Stoneville, was arrested as a result of the investigation. He had reportedly used a cousin’s Kellam Street address for receiving the package of marijuana, authorities said.
Champion was charged with trafficking in marijuana and held on $10,000 bond.
James has estimated that the street value of the marijuana is more than $16,500.
