Second person dies after car wreck

Police say Dana Wagoner Ellis, died of internal injuries, Sunday. Ellis had been trapped inside a truck after it collided with a SUV that crossed the center line Friday.

The Highway Patrol confirmed Sunday that a second person died as a result of injuries received during an accident on N.C. 87 outside Reidsville Friday afternoon.

Sgt. M.A. Rutledge said Dana Wagoner Ellis, 27, of 2119 Oregon Hill Road in Ruffin, died of internal injuries at Forsyth Medical Center about 5 p.m. Ellis had been trapped inside a 2004 Dodge Dakota after it collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee that crossed the center line.

Ellis was the second fatality in the accident. Lucy Stanley Case, 82, of 205 Ponderosa Road in Stoneville, was a passenger in the Jeep and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating why the Jeep, driven by,Virginia Scales Wall of 190 Pleasant Ridge Road in Stoneville, was left of center.
