Ferrum College student describes moment siren went off
Ferrum College Junior Kelly Ingram said she was heading to class Tuesday morning when she stopped by the cafeteria. The school’s emergency siren went off and students locked themselves in a room and closed the blinds, she said. They were there for about four hours.
Virginia Tech sends out e-mail regarding Ferrum College lockdown
During the course of their investigation, it was reported that a person was ‘on his way to Virginia Tech.’ This caused some concern and the Virginia State Police contacted Virginia Tech. Subsequently, this person has been found, he is not on his way to Virginia Tech, is not considered a threat, and indeed, had legitimate business here.

House Bill 1425, sponsored by Del. R. Steven Landes, R-Augusta, says that unless the federal government grants the state waivers that allow greater flexibility in implementing the federal law, the state Board of Education will draft a plan to withdraw from participation by June 30, 2009.

There are more than 460,000 Hispanic citizens and immigrants living in the commonwealth, according to a study released today by the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.

Ferrum College moves forward with new dorm
