actually, those of us in the path of Yesterday’s storms still fuss about interrupted programming.  I don’t know who the moron is who decided that 2 straight hours of your weathermen stuttering and drawing circles was necessary, but it was a terrible decision.  Every other local broadcast channel made do with a top of the screen ticker and the occasional announcement.  And somehow all those CSI watchers survived.  All I know is that I will never watch WSLS again.  And I suggest you fire someone.  Now.

There is nothing more dear than one’s family; but that doesn’t mean that’s one’s family cannot drive you to the brink of insanity.  Or bankruptcy.

Spring brings rebirth and realization on a rainy day spent with a teenage son.

John ran and finished the Bel Monte 50 k (31 mile) ultra marathon on Saturday.  In a word it was “hard.” Here’s what else it was.

John had been blogging about the upcoming Bel Monte Ultra marathon.  Well it’s ultra marathon week, and John is testing his readiness.

You’ve heard John talk about running over mountains, cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway and helping police catch the most wanted fugitives.  But did you know this about him?

The wind and the fires did significant damage to Carvins Cove.  John took a 24 mile tour.

After years of cycling up Bent Mountain, John attempts it on foot.

The morning I spotted a shooting star.

I have an encounter with four apparent neighbors. They greet me just about every morning as I head to work before the sun ever comes up. 

I became one of those parents this weekend as I made silly noises and faces, all in an attempt to get my daughter to smile during her first visit with the Easter bunny!!
