So I went to Blacksburg Wednesday night after work… the drive was nice.. especially the part I referenced in the short blog before this one… As I got to the stretch of Rt. 460 before the right turn onto Virginia Tech’s campus I rolled down the window and looked up at the moon… I was reminded of the nursery rhyme -"Hey diddle diddle… the cat and the fiddle.. “ It almost looked like it was smiling… I laughed a little to myself and felt so blessed to work in my chosen career and be a 45 minute drive from my family.

Thursday morning was a whirlwind of activities.. my mom and I went to our favorite diner in Blacksburg for breakfast and coffee… we laughed and talked about my video shoot over on campus for NRV Cares… a group in the New River Valley that helps neglected and abused children who need help and representation… I told my mom that there may be some students there to watch.. she said “They just want to look at you?” I laughed… many viewers will come up to me when we are out to say they enjoy WSLS news or my health reports… I am always thankful for the feedback because without you watching there is no need for me reporting… but my mom has been looking at me and listening to me for more than 30 years now and she doesn’t see what the big deal is… she loves me and has always supported me in so many ways but she will never think of me as any kind of “celebrity” Some people do some people don’t.. I know that when I come to work everyday I do my best and want to serve our viewers with information they want and that will benefit them… and selfishly the best part about it is that I am able to do that in my home… yep living and working so close to home is a gift.
