I had a great dinnerbreak tonight. I went to dinner with my friends Melissa, Holly and Katie and just had the best time chatting and catching up. Spending time with people for lunch or dinner can be such a breath of fresh air. It just makes helps you to put things in perspective. As Melissa, Holly and I talked about something that we thought was a little stressful, Holly’s 8 year old daughter Katie says, “Life goes and it comes...” to hear such a bright little girl make such a profound statement at such a young age helps me realize all that is good in this world.
There are so many stories we tell in the news that are hard to comprehend. People do some pretty bad things everyday… but dinner tonight reminded me of all of the acts of kindness that people do each day. We get in a big hurry but sometimes when we take the time to listen to what others have to say around us.. no matter their age we can learn so much from them and better ourselves.
Katie puts things in such a simple perspective for us adults who think we know so much and have so many stresses.. I realized sometimes I make my life more difficult than it needs to be. Sometimes I worry over the smallest of things. I never like to be late. I keep a running “to do” list that I allow to stress me out.
I know God doesn’t want us to stress. He wants us to be kind to others and to live by his word and for me a simple saying like.."Life goes and it comes...” reminds me of what is really important.. being kind and respectful to the people around you and making the people who are the most important to you in life top priority… that is what is important.
Thanks Katie.
