I am not a vegetarian. I don’t claim to be… but I have been eating less meat lately and I feel better for it. I’m not sure if it is mental or physical or a little bit of both.
I have always eaten meat with most meals in some form. But I have cut it out of my typical breakfast instead turning to “meat substitute” products like veggie scramble nuggets and egg whites along with a half of a whole grain bagel… For lunch soup has been one of my favorites lately.. vegetable soup.. salads and beans have become some of my favorites too… for dinner sometimes I am more than content to eat a black bean veggie cake.. some fresh vegatables and a salad.. I have been running a lot and my body just seems to burn this kind of fuel better than meat.
It almost feels like meat causes my system to work in overdrive to digest… I had salmon for dinner… fish seems more appealing than ever as well.. what is up with that? I never liked fish much before…
I am not “swearing off” meat all together but I haven’t missed it as much as I would have thought.. I find myself searching a restaurant menu for veggie options… quesadillas… salads or soups… who knows where this will lead but for now I am pleased with my choices and I have to say… ever since that video came out of those animals being mistreated at that meat plant a couple of weeks ago it has affected me and my choices.
