As I was working on a story about vitamins and supplements I found myself taking on role of reporter and consumer… I think a lot about food as fuel these days… a food item has to earn it’s way into my daily calories and having more vitamins and nutrients means it ranks high on my selection scale…

Even though I work very hard to plan healthy meals and snacks I still feel like there are times when I am tired and look to coffee as a pick me up… my latest buy is a supplement called rhodiola… it is supposed to repair stress caused inside the body… I have only been taking it for a couple of days and it takes a week or so to start working… it doesn’t work like caffeine but is supposed to be a more sustaining energy source… I will keep you posted…

I also bought some Arnaca gel which is supposed to help with inflammation and soreness… after mulching all day Saturday afternoon my left hand was throbbing… I rubbed some of the gel on it and the next day could barely tell I had done anything to it… coincidence?? not sure but will continue trying it on different muscles as the need arises…

There’s an old saying about a doctor who told his patient to take two aspirin, rest, drink plenty of fluids, and his cold would be gone in 7-10 days; or, do nothing and the cold would be gone in 7-10 days.
The moral of the story is that the body needs ‘x’ amount of time to heal itself no matter what you do. The best you can hope for is to mask the symptoms while you wait.
