Since WSLS went to HD, we’ve had the following question several times a week.

I just wondered when you might start broadcasting in HD for satellite TV, like DirecTV or Dish Network.

WSLS Chief Engineer Ricky Williams Responds: Currently neither DirecTV nor Echostar offer the local channels in HD.  Ath this time neither can do so because of reasons related to technology.  We hope that will change soon.

Valley View mall is home to Abercrombie and Fitch which once again has some risque ads that have raised questions in the community.  This viewer says it’s part of Roanoke’s problem.

If Roanoke wants to hang on to young people the very first thing you need to do is get over the religion.  These are kids.  These are kids.  And if you want to hang on to them past the age of 22 lose the attitude and the religion.  ... Roanoke is booking itself as the land of the walking dead, snowbird retirement center, and you’re not going to keep kids doing that.

And after the hit and run death of runner Tom Farrell, this viewer reminds pedestrians to do their share.

... you would think that walkers and joggers would be more concerned about wearing reflective gear, bright colored clothing, or carry a flashlight when walking or jogging before or after daylight.  But just this evening ...I noticed a woman walking her very small dog in the Penn Forest area wearing only black clothing. ... Maybe you can ... impress upon people how much of a difference it can make.
