We begin with the first of several questions and comments on personnel changes here at WSLS.

I’m curious as to what’s happened with Ros Runner after such a short period of time… All of a sudden you don’t see him during the week, just on the weekends.  I was wondering if you were going to make comments about this sometime…

WSLS-10 Responds: We’re giving hometown favorite, Jeff Haneiwich, an opportunity to become the meteorologist of record for our evening newscasts. Ros will move to weekends, which allows him some welcomed time to explore other recent interests and opportunities.

Can You tell me what has happen with Johanna Calfee?  Is she no longer with WSLS-10?
No name
No address

WSLS-10 responds: Johanna is no longer with WSLS-10.  Weather forecasting in SW Virginia can be very time-consuming and challenging. It’s one of the top 4 or 5 most difficult areas in the nation to forecast. Add to that the rigors of studying for a meteorology degree… it all became a little overwhelming. So, Johanna made a quality-of-life decision to spend more time with her family and pursue other interests.

And many viewers shared this sentiment over the departure of Juliet Bickford, who is moving to a station in Norfolk to be closer to her family.

I am an enormous fan of your news and the way you cover it… I wish Juliette Bickford—she is a ray of sunshine in an exceedingly drab world around here.  I wish her Godspeed....

I am writing to comment on Jeff Haneiwich’s coverage of the weather last night during the Biggest Loser.  I understand there was a lot of activity going on and that it is important to let viewers know.  However, Jeff repeated himself at least 8 different times with the same information and went much too in depth with the maps.  I understand the need to report severe weather.  However, I was beginning to think he was going to stay on the air until the severe thunderstorm warning was over.  I think he was fumbling for things to report on and I think it was an overkill.  I believe a better solution would have been to break in for a couple of minutes, report the severity of the storm, warnings or high areas of concern and then back out and have it scroll across the top of the screen.  I feel that would have been a better distribution of the severe weather to the viewers.
