More than 14,000 show up for Palin rally in Salem...

Gov. Palin was quick to name him “Greg the Mechanic.“
She was playing off Joe the Plumber and she kept the joke going throughout her speech.
“There’s Doug the barber, Cindy the citizen, one of my favorites is Joe Momma,“ she said, even calling her opponent “Barack the Wealth Spreader.“
In fact early on, Palin set the tone for her speech, declaring, “It is not mean spirited and it is not negative campaigning to call someone out on their plans and their record and their associations.“
And, she did that time and again, mainly on the issues of taxes.
She fed the crowd lines like “Sen. Obama has an commitment to higher taxes,“ “he voted 94 times for higher taxes,“ Sen. Obama says he wants to spread the wealth,“ and “Barack Obama is on the side of more controlling government and higher taxes.“ She even had a line for her vice presidential opponent, saying, “Joe Biden calls raising taxes patriotic.“
From there, Palin argued forcefully that only one team will really cut taxes.
“John and I don’t think government should take more of your hard earned money. We think that bureaucracy should do more with less so that you can prosper and thrive. We don’t think you should be working for government, we think government should be working for you,“ she said.
And, Palin warned against complete Democratic control in Washington.
“If you can imagine the Obama, Pelosi, Reid agenda. That unchecked agenda if put in power will erode that strong work ethic that made this country great.“
The crowd, dressed in red with some even spelling out USA, was charged up as was Palin, despite the weather.
“This is so beautiful out here tonight,“ she joked. “I love the weather because it reminds me of home.“
Palin wrapped up her speech with a simple question: “Virginia are you ready to help us carry your state to victory?“

Mr. VAeducator..Maybe I can educate you on a few matters. The National Debt in 2001 was 5 Trillion dollars. In 2008 it is 10 Trillion dollars. 10 Billion a month in Iraq. And Republicans were irresponsible to a point? The Dems can’t pass anything without a 60% majority to be “veto proof”. Am I better off now than I was 8 years ago? I’ve lost 40% of my portfolio in the last Year! Sorry, I just can’t afford 4 more years of this “insanity”. I fear that if McCain-Palin is elected I will not be alone in that Cave you spoke of and you may be digging along side of me. Always a pleasure Mr. VAeducator.
to hoosagolfer if Obama is elected I think the whole world is going to end up being VERY VERY AFRAID !!!
I guess hoosagolfer and I have formed a relationship here with our differences. This is good. Okay, I’ll take your 90% and raise you this. Perhaps you were in a cave from 2003-2007 when our economy was trucking along just fine. No one was complaining about gas prices, or unemployment rates, or growth in companies, despite being hit in 2001 with one of the greatest tragedies to befall this country. Let me point this out. How do you suppose all those companies, government buildings, universities, airports, etc were going to pay for added personnel and security? Do you think it was free? Not to mention the huge internet bubble that burst. Yes, the Republicans were irresponsible to a point with budgets. President Bush said Wall Street got drunk. Well, I think the Republicans were drinking from a similar fountain, but what have the majority Democrats done since wresting control in January of 2007? I fear you are neither doing your research, nor learning from your history. I guess it doesn’t matter that since Obama’s short residency in the senate that he has agreed with the President nearly 50% of the time, so I’ll give you that 90%, most of which came before 2006, if you would bother to go back and look at the date of the actual quote. Have a nice day!
Message to VAeducator..As you know the difinition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over again..to quote John McCain “I have voted with George Bush 90% of the time”. I rest my case.
Message to hoosagolfer, I think most Americans should consider that an Obama presidency would be even more scary. I wonder if you are old enough to remember the Carter Administration. Do yourself a favor, research how the Carter Admin lost 10 million jobs, was heavily indebted to the unions, drove up interest rates into the high teens, and America’s standing in the world was lessened due to the hostage crisis. You still have enough time to change your mind to a more rational Pro-AMERICA, not pro-world team. In good conscience, can we trust someone who reneged on his promise to take public money then decided he wouldn’t and was then able to outraise his opponent by 3-1? Can we trust a man who has had questionable associations and who wouldn’t even pass an FBI background check? Can we trust a guy who promises us everything, including the kitchen sink? Sure, Gov Palin may be a little green behind the ears, but not too bad for 8 weeks in the national spotlight. However, why is she not given the same latitude as Sen Obama these past 20 months? I wonder.
Yes President Palin,,, Sounds good to the 15,000 in Salem last night!
If John McCain were elected and pray tell something happend to him….This woman would be our PRESIDENT? be AFRAID, BE VERY,VERY AFRAID.
