is working with partners in one of the most dangerous corners of the world, northern Iraq and Syria. Representative for the group can't even say who or what group exactly they're working with to get supplies to those fleeing their homes because of safety concerns.
Since news broke that ISIS was targeting Christians and religious minorities, Gleaning for the World is talking to their partners asking how it can help.
"Many of these people are running out in the middle of the night, leaving everything behind them, just to spare their own life and for me that's something so outside of my norm that I feel driven to help. So even the little bit we can do from here gives us the opportunity to help someone across the world," explained Chris Atwood, Pastor of Outreach and Community at Cross Roads Church in Roanoke.
This week, Gleaning for the World is collecting supplies at locations in Lynchburg and Roanoke.
In Lynchburg, Wednesday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., volunteers will be set up at the Sam's Club on Wards Road and Dollar Tree on Candlers Mountain Road.
In Roanoke, Word of Truth Ministries on Peters Creek Road and Cross Roads Church on Hershberger Road are also collecting donations.
Word of Truth Ministries will take donations Wednesday thru Friday between 9 a.m and 3:30 p.m.
Cross Roads Church will be open Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. For a complete list of the donations being accepted,
