Norfolk State defeats Maryland-Eastern Shore 68-61

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Tony Murphy had 25 points to lead Norfolk State to its fifth-straight win with a 68-61 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore last night.
    The Spartans (14-10, 10-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 15-14 with 10:21 left in the first period, but then went on a 15-0 run to take the lead. Norfolk State led 31-23 at the half.
    The Hawks (4-23, 2-10) outscored Norfolk State 26-12 over the first 11 minutes of the second period and the game stayed close with the teams tied 52-all with 6:28 to play.
    Murphy gave the Spartans a 55-54 lead on a 3-pointer with 4:52 remaining, and Maryland-Eastern Shore was held scoreless on the next four possessions.
    Corey Lyons added 14 points for the Spartans and Larry Vickers had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
    Marc Davis led Maryland-Eastern Shore with 19 points, Ed Tyson and Gary Lee each had 17 points.
