Around 2:45 a.m. Monday, the official announcement finally came. The University of Richmond and the University of Virginia will meet Tuesday night in the first round of the new College Basketball Invitational.
The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at U.Va.’s John Paul Jones Arena. It will be televised by Fox College Sports.
The Cavaliers, from the ACC, are 15-15. The Spiders, who compete in the Atlantic 10, are 16-14. These teams haven’t met since Nov. 22, 2005, when U.Va. won 59-43 at the Robins Center.
Tickets for the first-round game are $10 for reserved seats and $5 for U.Va. students.
The Virginia-Richmond winner will meet Old Dominion or Rider in the second round Monday. -
