The Hokies are still hopeful senior cornerback Macho Harris can provide some punch to their struggling passing game.

Harris was thrown to twice in his offensive debut Saturday against Georgia Tech.

He caught one pass for a loss of a yard, and the other, a deep throw in the fourth quarter, sailed over his head.

He also attempted an end around in the fourth quarter, but the exchange between he and tight end Greg Boone was fumbled and recovered by quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Tech will try to work Harris, who was slowed during the first couple of weeks by a foot injury, into its offensive gameplan more from here on out, Beamer said.

“I think he needs to play more series, not just plays. … I think he needs to be able to play a series or a couple of series, three series, four series, whatever,” Beamer said. “We’re going to try to have a good plan for that.”
