State teams fighting for FCS poll position

Thump your chests, Virginians. It’s unlikely the state has ever been so well-represented in a national sports poll.
Monday’s Football Championship Subdivision poll included three state teams among the top 25, and another three in the “others receiving votes” category. VMI is the only state FCS team that didn’t receive at least one vote.
Based on voting points, Virginia had six teams in the top 55.
The University of Richmond was second in the latest poll with a total of 2,452 votes. James Madison University was fifth with 2,294. After that Liberty (23rd and 248); Norfolk State (36th and 27); Hampton (40th and 21); and William and Mary (55th and 1).
