Displaying the poise and game that has earned her the current #12 ranking in junior golf in the nation, Blacksburg High School’s Courtney Ellenbogen has put herself in solid position to make the cut at the LPGA event in Williamsburg, Virginia. Ellenbogen carded two birdies, a bogey and 15 pars on the immensely difficult Pete Dye layout to stand tied for 59th place after round one of the LPGA Michelob Ultra Open. The River Course at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa stretches 6,315 yards and is a par 71.  The tournament has a total purse of 2.2 million dollars. Ellenbogen has some experience playing against the best women in the world---last year she missed the cut at the US Women’s Open by a single stroke.
