Salem jumped out to a five-nothing lead on their way to a convincing 7-3 victory to capture the River Ridge regular season title. It’s the Spartans first outright District softball title since 1991.  Jamie Price had a two RBI single in the victory. Ellen Weaver pitched the Spartans to the long-awaited victory. Salem has knotched a number of milestones under new head coach Ron Reynolds. Salem won the Salem Invitational this season, which included a win over James River 4-1---a rare win over Virginia Tech bound pitcher Abbie Rexrode. The Spartans punch a ticket to the regional tournament with the title victory.
