Visiting Jefferson Forest used three extra base hits to power its way past Heritage in a key Seminole Distinct baseball clash on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers (11-2, 5-1 Seminole) trailed 4-2 going into the top of the fourth when Ragan Rudisill tied the game with a two-run homerun that just cleared the fence in left center.

The Pioneers answered back in the bottom of the fourth on Gregg Chewning’s RBI-single up the middle that scored Jarith Davis.

But, JF took the lead for good in the fifth on a two-run double down the right field line by Shane Timberlake and a two-run homer to right by Tyler Brown.

The Cavaliers added two more runs in the sixth. The first came when Dylon Higley crushed a ball to left center for JF’s third home run of the game.

The second run came when Heritage pitcher James Womack attempted to pick off a runner on third and had the skip out of play.

And, it appeared the Cavaliers’ were going to need all ten runs as the Pioneers rallied for three run in the seventh.

Womack got the rally started with a two-run blast to right center and Trevor Stevens added a solo shot to right but JF’s Trevor Johnston finally slammed the door on Heritage for the 10-8 victory with a strike out of Jon Dansby to end the game.

Rudisill finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs, Higley was 3-for-4 with walk, two runs and RBI and Timberlake was 2-for-3, with 2 runs and 2 RBIs for the Cavaliers.

Chewning was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI; Womack was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, Stevens was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI and Allen Seufert was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and 2 RBIs for the Pioneers.

Johnston (4-1) earned the victory. He entered to start the fourth in relief of Bobby Shelton and worked four innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out eight batters.
