(AP) - Kurt Busch has drawn the top starting spot for Saturday night’s Bud Shootout, but he hasn’t been feeling so hot this week.
Busch managed to make it down to Daytona on Thursday despite being stuck in bed with the flu since Monday night. He had to go to the infield medical center to receive intravenous just before noon on Thursday.
“He’s a skinny little dude, but he’s as tough as nails,“ crew chief Pat Tryson said. “I told him this morning that his health is the number one priority and after seeing him laying there earlier today, I can’t believe he’s done all they tell me he has since then.“
Busch will have to rally if he wins the Shootout on Saturday night. His sponsor, Miller Lite, has promised that Busch will buy a round of beers for everyone in the bar at the Hooters across the street if he wins.
