Casey Hodges homecoming did not disappoint. In his first appearance in Danville this season, Hodges threw a complete-game shutout of the Bluefield Orioles. He allowed just two hits while striking out eight, while walking none. Danville backed him up with the necessary run support in a three nothing victory.
Hodges moves to 3-1 on the season for Danville, but even more impressive is he’s leading the Appalachian league in era…now a microscopic 0.60.
. After pitching his first four contests on the road, the Rocky Mount native shined at home. He faced the minimum 21 batters over the span of the seven-inning contest. Hodges led Mount Olive College to the division-II National Championship this year. The right-hander and 23rd round selection of the Braves has now pitched 30.0 innings on the season, allowing 20 hits, four walks and 25 strikeouts. The Braves dropped the first game of tonight’s double-header 10-6 to Bluefield.
Casey’s father Ron and mother Peggy were in attendance. Ron was a major league catcher for the New York Mets from 1973 to 1984. He appeared in a World Series game for the Mets in 1973.
