BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - The New York Yankees made a silent pilgrimage to the Virginia Tech memorial dedicated to the victims of last April’s campus killings.
As approximately 200 people looked on, the players stopped Tuesday at the Blacksburg campus to view the 32 stone memorials dedicated to the April 16 shooting victims.
The players were dressed in street clothes as they filed past the stones, then paused to look over at the classroom building where all but two of the gunman’s victims were slain.
Tech President Charles Steger briefly addressed the players.  Team captain Derek Jeter signed autographs, and one Tech student’s t-shirt.

Students who came to see the Yankees said the players will help the campus continue to heal.
The team was to play Virginia Tech in an exhibition game at 3:00 p.m.
